Palm tree Christmas lights, the Florida way
Tight, even trunk wraps on sabal, queen and Washingtonia palms, plus lit canopies on live oaks — the thing a Jacksonville house has that a northern one doesn't.
Early-bird $100 off — book by October 31
Palm trees are what make a Jacksonville display look like Florida instead of Ohio, and they are also the part most people get wrong at home: a loose spiral that bunches at the bottom and runs out halfway up. We wrap trunks in a tight, even spiral from the base to the crown, with the spacing set for the trunk's height so the whole palm reads as one glowing column.
We light sabal (cabbage) palms, queen palms, Washingtonias and pygmy dates, plus live oak trunks and lower canopies, crape myrtles and shrubs. Tall palms are priced with the equipment they need. Every cord is run along beds and out of mower paths, and at takedown the wraps come off without scarring the trunk.
Palm tree Christmas lights are also where planning matters most. A 15-foot sabal with a trunk about three and a half feet around takes roughly a hundred feet of lights at six-inch spacing — far more than most people buy. We size every wrap to the tree, keep every palm in the yard on the same spacing and color so they read as a set, and add crown lights or an uplight on palms where that looks better than a wrap.

Palm Tree Lighting FAQ
Is it safe to put Christmas lights on palm trees?
Yes, with outdoor-rated commercial LED that runs cool, cords protected from water and mowers, and wraps that do not cut into the trunk. We remove everything at takedown.
How much does it cost to light a palm tree?
$75 to $250 per tree, depending on height, trunk and how tight the wrap is. Very tall palms that need a lift are quoted after we see them.
Do you light the fronds or just the trunk?
Most clients choose the trunk; it reads cleanest from the street. Crown lights can be added on shorter palms.
Can you light our oak trees?
Yes — trunk wraps and lower limbs, priced per tree by size.
How do you wrap a palm tree with Christmas lights?
From the base up in a steady spiral, snug but not tight, at a fixed spacing — usually 4 to 6 inches between turns — finishing just under the crown. The plug end starts at the base so the cord runs to the outlet without crossing the wrap.
How many lights does a palm tree need?
Roughly the trunk circumference times the number of turns. A 15-foot sabal palm at 6-inch spacing needs about 100 feet of lights; tighter spacing needs more. We size it for you on the quote.
